Head of Product Design
Our mission is to give every website owner the understanding a company with an analyst has. The first step is building the best analytics tool for AI founders: one that reads the data and writes the conclusion, so nobody has to decode a chart. We are small, flat and self-funded, and the people who answer support email write the code. We like people who are direct, curious and happy to ship, and we spend our days reading customers' data and building what it tells us to.
About the role
As Head of Product Design at Clerion, you will own how the product looks and reads: the dashboard, the daily briefing, onboarding, the SDK's documentation and the website. Clerion's promise is that nobody has to decode a chart, and that promise is kept or broken in design. One typeface, no noise, and no number shown without its meaning.
You will be the first designer. You will design in the product rather than in a deck, ship with the engineers, test with customers on their real data, and set what a calm analytics tool should feel like. As the team grows, you will hire and lead the designers who come after you.
What you will do
- Design the product end to end, from the first screen after signup to the briefing a founder reads every morning.
- Own the design system: tokens, components, typography, motion, and the rules for when to break them.
- Make data legible: charts, tables and written findings that a founder understands in a minute.
- Design onboarding so a new customer reaches their first real insight in one sitting.
- Work alongside the engineers in the codebase, so what you design is what ships.
- Test with real customers on their real data, and change what does not land.
- Keep the website and the product one continuous thing, in the same skin and the same voice.
- Set the standard for copy in the interface: every label, empty state and error in plain words.
- Hire and lead the design team as it grows, and set how it works with engineering.
You may be a fit if
- You have led design on a shipped software product and can show the before and the after.
- You have designed data-heavy interfaces and know when a chart should be a sentence instead.
- You work in the codebase or close to it, and you would rather ship than hand off.
- You have taste for restraint: fewer elements, more meaning, nothing decorative.
- You write well, because half of interface design is choosing the words.
- You have run research with real users on real tasks and changed your design because of it.
- You have used analytics tools on your own projects and have clear views on what they get wrong.
- You want to be the first designer somewhere and to define what design means there.
How to apply
Using the product first is required.
- Use Clerion on a real site for at least a week. Start the 14-day trial, install the script tag, read your briefings. This is required, not optional: we only hire people who have used the product.
- Write down one idea. Something Clerion should do, stop doing, or do differently, based on what you saw. A paragraph is enough.
- Email hello@getclerion.com with the role in the subject, your idea, and links to your work: GitHub, a product you shipped, or writing.
