Track signups, trials and purchases without an event plan
Name the moment that matters, a signup, a trial, a purchase, with one line of code or one attribute on a button, and it appears on the Custom events page with its completions, uniques, conversion rate and value. Pick the one that counts as the win and Clerion draws the funnel from the first visit to it. There is nothing to define in the dashboard first.
What you see
| On the page | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Your funnel | One band from visit to win, its height at each step the share of visits that reached it, with the rate that went on |
| All events | One line per event on a chart, and a list with completions, uniques, conversion rate and value |
| Against the period before | Every step and every event carries its change from the previous period |
| By source, page or device | Click any row on the dashboard and the funnel narrows to those visitors |
How it works
window.clerion.trackEvent("signup");
window.clerion.trackEvent("purchase", { value: 49, currency: "USD" });
Or, for a click:
<button data-track-event="demo_request">Book a demo</button>
Every name Clerion does not use itself becomes an event the first time it arrives. Pass a value and it is summed, and the revenue by source card uses it. Events are sent in batches a few seconds after they happen, and the dashboard's figures refresh every 30 seconds.
Pick the win
The page asks what counts as a win, such as a signup, a purchase, a waitlist join or a demo booked, gives you the paste-ready line, and suggests the one or two events worth adding after it. Put the steps in order and the funnel is drawn.
Limits
| Limit | What it means |
|---|---|
| Website events | Clerion counts what happens on pages with the snippet. Events inside a native app or on a server need to be sent from a page. |
| Not a product-analytics suite | There are funnels, conversion rates and values. There are no retention cohorts or feature flags. |
| 5 KB per event | Details beyond that are rejected. Keep personal data out of them. |
Set it up
The custom events docs cover React, Next.js, TypeScript, the reserved names and what to do when counts look wrong.
Questions
Do I need to define events in the dashboard first?
No. Any new name appears the first time it arrives.
Does it work on a single-page app?
Yes. Call trackEvent where you handle the result of the action. Route changes are already counted as pageviews.
Can I compare conversion by traffic source?
Yes. Click a source and every event's conversion rate narrows to those visitors.
