Terms of Service

Disclaimer: These are the terms that govern your use of Clerion. They are written to be readable, not to hide anything in dense legal language. They are a binding agreement once you use the service. If anything is unclear, ask us before relying on it, and if you need formal advice for your own business, speak to your own lawyer.

By creating a Clerion account, installing the tracking script, or otherwise using the service, you agree to these terms. If you are agreeing on behalf of a company or other organisation, you confirm you have the authority to bind it, and "you" means that organisation.

The service

Clerion provides privacy-first web analytics with AI-generated summaries and insights. We aim for high availability but, like every software service, we do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. Planned maintenance and incidents will be visible on our status page once it launches. We may add, change, or remove features over time as the product develops.

Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent in your country if that is higher, to use Clerion. You are responsible for the information you give us at sign-up being accurate, for keeping your login credentials secure, and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us promptly at hello@getclerion.com if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

Your responsibilities

You confirm that you own or have the right to add analytics to the sites you connect, and that doing so does not breach anyone else's rights. You are responsible for your site's own legal obligations to its visitors, including any notices or disclosures your jurisdiction requires.

You agree not to:

  • use Clerion to collect data you are not entitled to collect, or to upload personal data into fields not meant for it;
  • attempt to re-identify individual visitors from the data;
  • probe, scrape, overload, reverse-engineer, or disrupt the service or its infrastructure;
  • resell or white-label the service except under a plan that expressly allows it;
  • use the service to break the law or infringe anyone's rights.

If you misuse the service in a way that creates risk for us or for other customers, we may act to protect the service, and we will explain what we did.

Your data and ownership

Your analytics data is yours. We process it only to provide and improve the service for you, and for nothing else. You can export it at any time, and deleting your account permanently removes it. We never sell it. How we handle data is set out in full in our Privacy Policy and data journey.

The service itself, including the software, models we build, design, and brand, remains ours. These terms give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Clerion while your account is active. They do not transfer any of our intellectual property to you.

If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them to improve the product without any obligation to you.

AI output

Briefings and answers are generated from your data by AI, including models operated by third-party providers. They are designed to be accurate and useful, but they are summaries and interpretations, not guarantees, and they can occasionally be wrong or incomplete. Sanity-check significant business decisions against the underlying numbers, which are always available in your dashboard. You are responsible for how you act on the output.

Third-party services

Clerion relies on third parties for hosting, payment processing, email delivery, and the AI models behind your briefings. We choose them carefully and list the categories in our Privacy Policy, but we are not responsible for their own services, and their availability and pricing are partly outside our control.

Billing

Paid plans bill in advance on a monthly cycle and can be cancelled at any time, taking effect at the end of the current billing period. Fees are exclusive of any taxes, which we will add where we are required to. Payments are handled by our payment processor; we do not store your full card details.

If you exceed your plan's pageview limit, we do not cut off your data mid-month; we will ask you to upgrade for the next one. The free plan is free forever within its stated limits. Except where the law requires otherwise, fees already paid are non-refundable, though we are reasonable about genuine mistakes.

Pricing and changes

A meaningful part of what a paid plan costs is the AI behind your briefings, and those models are priced by third-party providers whose costs are set by them and outside our control. If model costs or our other costs change materially, we may adjust plan pricing accordingly. We will always tell registered customers by email before any price change takes effect, the new price applies from your next billing period, and you are free to cancel before it does. We may also change the limits or contents of plans, with the same notice.

No warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we make no warranties that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose, beyond what we expressly state here.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Clerion's total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or for business decisions made on top of the numbers. We are a measurement tool. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Indemnity

You agree to cover reasonable costs we incur from third-party claims arising out of your misuse of the service, the data you put into it, or your breach of these terms.

Termination

You can leave at any time by deleting your account. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms or create risk for the service, and we will tell you why if we do. On termination, your right to use the service ends and your data is deleted in line with our Privacy Policy. The sections that by their nature should survive, including ownership, liability, and indemnity, continue after termination.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Clerion is established, and any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be handled by the courts of that jurisdiction. We would always rather sort things out by email first, so please reach out before anything escalates.

General

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. Our not enforcing a term on one occasion does not waive it. You may not assign these terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a reorganisation or sale of the business. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any plan details, are the entire agreement between us.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change materially, we will note it in the changelog and email registered customers before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Clerion after that means you accept the updated terms.
