Software Engineer

Our mission is to give every website owner the understanding a company with an analyst has. The first step is building the best analytics tool for AI founders: one that reads the data and writes the conclusion, so nobody has to decode a chart. We are small, flat and self-funded, and the people who answer support email write the code. We like people who are direct, curious and happy to ship, and we spend our days reading customers' data and building what it tells us to.

About the role

As a Software Engineer at Clerion, you will work across the whole product: the tracking script, the API and ingest, the dashboard people open every morning, and the pipeline that writes their briefing. You will build features end to end, from the script tag to the screen, and you will own them once they ship.

This is a small team with a short path from idea to production. You will talk to customers, read their data with them, and fix what you find. You will write the help article for what you ship and answer the support email about it. The role suits someone who would rather own a whole feature than a slice of one.

What you will do

• Build features end to end: schema, API, ingest, interface and the copy on the screen.
• Make the dashboard faster and calmer, and keep the SDK lighter than the one it replaced.
• Improve how signals are found and ranked, and how the briefing explains them in plain words.
• Extend the SDK: custom events, goals and revenue, the click map, and whatever customers ask for next.
• Work on the integrations customers install from: WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Next.js and plain HTML.
• Write the guides and help articles for what you ship, in the same plain voice as the product.
• Answer support email for the parts you own and turn repeat questions into fixes.
• Review your colleagues' work carefully and take their reviews the same way.
• Leave every part of the codebase you touch simpler than you found it.

You may be a fit if

• You have shipped production web software with TypeScript or a similar stack, on both the front end and the back end.
• You care that a page loads fast and a script stays small, and you can measure both.
• You have worked with data at some scale: events, time series, aggregations, or the queries behind a dashboard.
• You have opinions about analytics tools, ideally from running one on your own site.
• You write clearly. Half of this job is explaining data to people who are not analysts.
• You are comfortable talking to a customer, hearing a problem first-hand, and shipping the fix the same week.
• You would rather own a whole feature than a slice of one, and you finish what you start.
• You want to work somewhere small enough that what you build lands in front of customers the day it merges.

How to apply

Using the product first is required.

1. Use Clerion on a real site for at least a week. Start the 14-day trial, install the script tag, read your briefings. This is required, not optional: we only hire people who have used the product.
2. Write down one idea. Something Clerion should do, stop doing, or do differently, based on what you saw. A paragraph is enough.
